Description

This book gives collotype representations of 16th and 17th-century mural paintings from Cochin. They were considered to be important as they were made by a single group of artists whose painting style differed significantly from other schools of Indian art. They also give a background to understanding Kathakali. It was felt that it was necessary to make printable copies of murals for study. The book fulfils this need. It also has chapters on the historical background of the Cochin murals, the history of the Mattancheri palace, the aesthetic aspects of Indian Murals and the technique of mural paintings.
